Marcher Load-In Time: 2:30pm
Position: E17
(between ACTRA and PSAC)
Parade Entry: Yonge St. & Aylmer Ave.

TIME

The parade starts at 2:00pm with section A1.  We are scheduled to arrive at 2:30pm for section E17.  If you’ve ever marched before, you know that means we’re still in for a long, hot, wait, so we’d ask that you please not show up any earlier, and in fact, don’t have to be there at 2:30pm on the dot either 😉 .

It can be a bit chaotic with all of the groups arriving, so those of us in charge of organizing our contingent will not even be there prior to 2:30pm when we have to check our group in.

LOCATION

Marchers: If you are joining the parade by marching, you should take the TTC to Rosedale Station.  We will have our temporary gathering spot in front of the station, and then when it is our time, we will head into the lineup on Aylmer Ave.  When leaving Rosdale station, head towards Yonge and you should see a group of us gathering nearby in the shade.

We have someone assigned to do the check-in for us, so please do not go to the check-in tent.  We will remain in our temporary spot until we see the “E” groups heading into Aylmer Ave.  At that point we will move the group.  If you are arriving late enough that we have already entered Aylmer, then you can just head in to join up with us.  Pride has assured us that this year they WILL have personnel with signs labelled with the letters to better tell where everyone should be once entering Aylmer Ave.

Riders: We have limited space, and a large number of requests, so we will contact you directly if we have space for you on the flatbed.  If you don’t get this email, then you are welcome to join the marchers!  If you ARE contacted to ride on the flatbed, we will be parked on Rosedale Valley Road, somewhere between Park St. and Bayview Ave.  If you are taking the TTC, Sherbourne Station is probably easier than Bloor/Yonge.  Our arrival time will be the same as the marchers: 2:30pm.

Please note:  Climbing a few steps is required to get up on to the flatbed.

SWAG

Each year we use a different colour of the rainbow for our t-shirts, and this year it’s GREEN. Sizes are limited so shirts are given out on a first come, first served basis.  We’d ask that if you are bringing a few guests, that you please allow IATSE members to get shirts before providing them to guests.  When in doubt, wear any green shirt!

We will also have a Local 873 makeup artist who will be offering face painting and beard/hair glitter!  While you’re waiting to march, make yourself fabulous for the parade!

IMPORTANT RULES

Now the boring part.  The rules.  Please take a look at these and make sure that we are following the rules so that we can continue to have a fun, and safe, pride parade!

  1. We will have some water and snacks available, but if you have any specific needs please ensure you come prepared.

  2. Parade goes ahead rain or shine, so don’t forget to dress appropriately and wear your sunscreen!

  3. We are not permitted to bring anything that resembles a weapon/gun, this includes water guns.

  4. No animals are permitted to join unless they are legitimate service animals.  Please leave all pets at home!

  5. Strollers / wagons for children are allowed, but only legitimate mobility devices permitted for adults.

  6. Once the parade starts, no one may get on or off the vehicle, and once on the vehicle must remain inside at all times.  If Pride Toronto sees anyone getting on or off, or hanging off the vehicle, IATSE can be removed and banned from future parades.

PARADE ENDING

We have no way to predict when we will be finished marching, but Pride Toronto is aiming to have the final group finished by 6:00pm.  Marchers will be funneled into Nathan Phillips Square where you may then continue on to wherever your evening plans take you!

The parade route is barricaded to keep the spectators safely back from the route.  However, if, for some reason, you need to exit the parade early, Toronto Pride has let us know where the “off-ramps” are.  Check out the list below:

QUESTIONS?

If you have any questions that haven’t been answered by the above info, feel free to reach out to us at: iatsepride@iatse.net.

However, once we get a few hours from the parade start time, we may no longer be able to check our emails, so just look for someone in the green IATSE Pride t-shirt!
